A Brief Description About Processing
Process Description for Making Maltodextrin From Maize Starch
Maize starch slurry is taken from maize starch plant. PH of slurry is adjusted 6.5 -6.8 and required doses of enzyme is added in the slurry feed tank. Enzyme-treated slurry is feeded to the thermal hydro-heater where starch is broken to thinning stage. Thereafter it is passed through the retention tube and Dextrin nozzle column to get-Malto-Dextrine of required De (Dextrose Equivalent) for liquid glucose malto-Dextrin slurry is further treated with another enzyme to convert dextine to high degree of glucose such that 42-43 degree. Further process is of separation of protein by filtration and refining with carbon treatment. Liquid Glucose is given De-ashing treatment by using ion-exchange refined syrup of 25-30 % in the multi-stage evaporator and further evaporated in Calandria type batch evaporator to concentrate Malto-Dextrine / Liquid glucose syrup having a solid content of 45 %, 75 % & 86 % depending up the requirement of customer.
For manufacturing Malto-Dextrin powder concentrate of liquid glucose feeded in the spray drier to get powder with a moisture content of 3-3.5 % moisture.
